Donald Trump was in yet another courtroom Thursday as a criminal defendant, this time the federal courthouse in Washington, D.C., where he entered not guilty pleas to all counts in the latest indictment from Jack Smith. This indictment, handed down Tuesday, alleges that Trump and a number of co-conspirators attempted to overturn the 2020 election.

As nearly every legal expert has opined, the indictment is extremely weak. Jonathan Turley said, it’s “the first criminal indictment of alleged disinformation in my view,” and, “If you take a red pen to all of the material presumptively protected by the First Amendment, you can reduce much of the indictment to haiku.”
Trump spoke to reporters before boarding his plane at Reagan National Airport in Arlington, Virginia, calling today “a sad day for America.”

Trump said:
This is a very sad day for America, and it was also very sad driving through Washington, D.C, and seeing all of the filth and the decay and all of the broken buildings, and walls and the graffiti. This is not the place that I left. It’s a very sad thing to see it. When you look at what’s happening, this is a persecution of a political opponent. This was never supposed to happen in America. This is the persecution of the person that’s leading by very, very substantial numbers in the Republican primary and leading Biden by a lot. So if you can’t beat it, you persecute them or you prosecute them. We can’t let this happen in America.
Everything he said is spot on. Not only is Biden consistently going down in the polls; more information about his family’s bribery business comes out every week (if not every day), which puts his son, at the very least, in some pretty big legal jeopardy. We’ve noted that every time something bad happens in the Biden world, Trump is indicted – or a superseding indictment is filed. At this point it’s assumed that another indictment will soon be handed down in Georgia, and the timing of that will likely coincide with some bad publicity for Joe and Hunter Biden’s “brand.”
Trump is scheduled to be back in court August 28th.
